Description:Summary
An Assistant Superintendent assists the Project Superintendent with the daily operation of a project site, including scheduling and procurement of materials and equipment. May manage production and manpower of self-performed work. Assists the Superintendent with managing and overseeing any contracted work on the site
Duties:Duties and Responsibilities

Essential
1. Studies project specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, using knowledge of available tools and equipment and various building methods.
2. Works with Operations to procure manpower for assigned project and is responsible for work assignments and crew mixes to manage labor costs as assigned.
3. Directs procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
4. Meets with and directs supervisory personnel engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
5. Works with supervisory personnel to resolve complaints and grievances within the work force.
6. Manages the project based on progress reports, materials used, and costs adjusting work schedules accordingly.
7. Directs workers concerned with major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations. Designates workers according to type of work, project, or construction activity directed.
8. Works with the Superintendent and Manager of Operations to move personnel from project to project, minimizing hiring and layoffs.
9. Ensures that company policies, such as safety policies, equal opportunity, and
others are implemented consistently. Ensures company quality standards and
housekeeping requirements are maintained.
10. Confers with supervisors, engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and to improve construction methods as assigned.
11. Inspects work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and to construction schedules.

1. At least 5 years commercial construction experience.
2. At least 3 years commercial construction experience as a Foreman and/or General Foreman.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
3. Good driving record.
4. Ability to travel from jobsite to office.
5. Good knowledge of building codes and blueprints.
6. Knowledge of subcontractors’ scopes of work and tolerances.
7. The ability to apply college level algebra concepts.
8. Good written and oral communication skills.
9. Has good problem solving ability, showing the ability to deal with a variety of variables given general construction and concrete placement principles with little structure or direction and interprets a variety of complex instructions.
10. The ability to proactively manage personnel issues.
11. Good organizational skills.
12. The ability to process information quickly and follow through with a course of action.
13. The ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing threat of harm to self or others.
14. Must have good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity.
15. Ability to understand and convey English commands, questions and instructions on an eighth grade level regarding concrete construction.
16. Works effectively as a member of the direct field workforce.

B. Commits to and meets all scheduled attendance and production deadlines.
C. Works diligently to perform in a safe manner according to Layton Construction guidelines.
17. Is at least 18 years of age.
18. Handles very heavy work.
A. Exerts in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force
