| Description: | Prepare project site for construction footings, walls and slabs. Assist carpenters and other craft workers as required. This is an entry-level position, and the employee works under the immediate supervision of the applicable foreman. |
| Duties: | •Provide support to other craft workers on project site with regard to structural construction, heavy concrete construction, demolition and framing.
•Maintain clean and safe work areas (sweep debris; gather and discard trash, scrap iron and wood; remove snow and ice.)
•Identify hazards associated with task assignments and ask questions when clarification is needed.
•Load/unload material as directed.
•Understand and follow lock out/tag out procedures.
•Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety.
•Have minimum tools associated with trade.

| Qualifications: | Education and/or Experience
No prior training or experience is required.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or-two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Computer Skills
Not required for this position.

Prioritize tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires heavy physical activity performing strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push, pull, grip with force, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may be required less frequently to lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Vision requirements include good depth perception, field of vision, near acuity and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment is outdoors where the employee is exposed to changing weather conditions. Employee is regularly required to lift or carry items. Employee is often exposed to an improperly illuminated or awkward and confining space. Employee will occasionally come into contact with air contamination such as dust, fumes, smoke, toxic conditions or disagreeable odors. Occasionally, employee will be working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists. Noise level is loud.
TRAVEL
Minimal overnight travel by land and/or air may be required.

Employee will work mainly with the foreman and other craft employees.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS
Hours are generally 40 per week. The employee may be requested to work up to 10 to 20 hours of overtime. Overtime will be compensated at time and one-half the employee’s base rate or in accordance with applicable state laws.
Nothing in this position description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
